• Effectively treats Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Obsessive‑Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post‑Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) 

• Enhances mood and reduces anxiety by increasing brain serotonin levels through selective serotonin reuptake inhibition

• Often effective within 1–2 weeks for initial improvement, with full effect around 4–6 weeks

⚠️ Important Information

• Starting Dose: Typically 20 mg/day in the morning; dose may be increased gradually to a maximum of 50 mg/day depending on response and tolerance 

• Common Side Effects: Nausea, insomnia, dry mouth, dizziness, fatigue, reduced libido, sexual dysfunction, sweating, tremor, and appetite changes 

• Interactions & Precautions: Avoid concomitant use with MAO inhibitors, thioridazine, and be cautious when combining with lithium, warfarin, phenytoin, or alcohol. Serotonin syndrome risk if combined with tryptophan 

• Contraindications: Not to be used in patients on MAOIs or thioridazine, or in those with hypersensitivity to paroxet

• Pregnancy & Lactation: Not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless supervised by a healthcare professional

• Driving & Machinery: May impair alertness—patients should avoid driving or operating machinery if drowsiness or visual disturbances occur
